Version 0.8.RC1 Release July 13, 2009

Posted by admin in : Uncategorized , comments closed

The v 0.8 of the Open Forex Platform is now publicly available for download. As already seen in the video tutorials, we have tried to make it much more user friendly and simple to use. The UI versatility has been hugely improved while the underlying code was re factored to allow building experts more easily and handle new broker integrations much faster, along with support for positions management and tick data. Each and every part has been improved or superseded by a new one (DataStore component introduced) so this new version gives a much better idea what the 1.0 will be.

To run it you need the latest Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (SP1).

Download v 0.8 (x64/x86) http://www.openforexplatform.com/files/versions/OpenForexPlatform.0.8.RC1.zip

As usual, the complete source code is available trough the SVN. If you have any problems with the version, please let us know directly (support at openforexplatform.com) or trough the forums.

Update June 28, 2009

Posted by admin in : Uncategorized , comments closed

The v.0.8 of the Platform is now ready and undergoing some final testing and bug fixing to make sure it is stable enough for general usage. The release is expected at the end of the week, both binaries and source code. Also the SVN source code repository will be updated Monday so this is a good chance for anyone interested to take a look at the new goodies in action.

This current version has been in the making longer than any other, and for a good reason - most of the underlying functionality has been redesigned to improve both usability and performance, to make possible things like tick data operations and trading with positions. The UI has also been reorganized to make it simpler and easier to use.

We have also prepared a small surprise for the middle of this week so keep an eye out for it too.

MBTrading Integration & Market Watch Component May 21, 2009

Two very important features are almost done, and will become available shortly on the CVS server as well as in the 0.8 application version.

MBTrading integration allows the Platform to connect to MBTrading server - consume live and historical data, and place orders. MBT provide a very large set of tradeable instruments, Forex, Futures, Stocks etc. you can find more information on that on their web page.

The market watch component gives an overview of the current quotes of a selected set of instruments. It is crucial to real time trading, and allows to start trading or historical data analysis of a symbol by only a single click.

Trading Instruments Set April 14, 2009

Posted by admin in : Uncategorized , comments closed

Despite its name, the Open Forex Platform is capable of operating with any instrument provided by the Broker or Broker API (ETF, CFD, Futures, Metals, Indexes etc.). Although it started as a Forex only effort, a few years ago, the current source code and functionality have been developed, from the start, to be a versatile tool - useful for any form of electronic trading and analysis.

HST File Format Supported April 6, 2009

Posted by admin in : Uncategorized , comments closed

The Open Forex Platform now supports both reading and writing data from the binary HST (Historical MT4 Quotes) files. There is a good source for HST one minute data, from Alpari, here: http://www.alpari-idc.com/en/dc/databank.php

The functionality for reading HST is already available trough the SVN source code repository, and will become part of the coming 0.8 release. As usual, it is all open source so it can be reused if needed.

The coming 0.8 version of the Platform has been some time in the making and is now due in a 2-3 weeks time. It features a revised workspace, allowing easy usage of mutliple components at the same time, docked next to each other or free floating; also the long awaited internal data storage is up as well as improved MT4 integration with instance orders execution and data retrieval, to benefit automated systems. We are also going for a second integration, to allow an even further extended broker set, so stay tuned.
